Prompt #26

Pages 30-47

I love the way Leon Leyson is a strong, determine and adventurous young man. As I’m reading this book, Leon has described himself as a strong and determined young man because he’s going through this rough situation, the Holocaust, and he isn’t like I would act if I were in his shoes where I would just panic, cry and sadly probably wouldn’t make it out alive. Leon is the opposite of me he is strong and determined he solves his owns problems and he cares for his family. Leon is also very adventurous and that’s what I love about him. He says that everyday is a new adventure and that he can’t wait to discover new things and that’s what makes him very lovable, his personality is very positive.

Prompt #23,61

Pages Prologue-29

After reading the opening of “The Boy On The Wooden Box” by Leon Leyson, I felt sympathy but also felt concerned. I felt bad for Leon because he had to go through this horrible situation as a young boy. The book opened up with a young age boy to then maturing into a man named Leon Leyson, a survivor of the Holocaust, who is waiting to meet the man, Oskar Schindler, who saved his and other life’s as well. I felt concerned because I want to know how Oskar saved many life’s and is such a heroic man. Something I learned from my reading was that Leib Lejzon also known as Leon Leyson was born in Narewka. His mother, Chanah, was the youngest of five children and his father, Mosche, who worked as an apprentice machinist in a small factory in which he got promoted and move to another city nearby their home. Leon had four older siblings, Leon being the youngest. His oldest brother Hershel was more of a strong man who refused to got to school and instead worked with his father, then was Betzalel also known as Tsalig was much different than Hershel he was more gentle and kind. Then was his sister Pesza, and lastly his other older brother David who was Leon’s closest companion maybe because they were just a little over a year apart.
